Thanks for Giving

"A veteran is a person who, at some point in their life, has written a blank cheque to the people of Canada up to and including the price of their life."

This weekend I had to hold back tears numerous times. Once being Pam and Jim's wedding on The Office (ok so I cried twice...but there could be a logical explanation for that...I will know after my trip to the drugstore) And the other time was during the Warrior's Day Parade. Seeing JD (the husband) stand up in uniform, to support his country and fellow military men it brings a pride filled tear to my eye. I'm so proud to live in this country, so proud of the people who serve it, and proud of JD for being one of those men.

Some parts of me do not want Noah to walk in JD's footsteps in terms of the army. I'm terrified to lose my two favourite guys. This weekend proved to be rewarding for Noah, as you can see in the picture. While he doesn't understand what the army does, he understands that his dad has a big job, and wears many different hats. He understands that his dad not only cares for him, but cares enough for his country that he would be willing to lay down his own life.

I am glad my husband walks in the footsteps of his father. The one who gave up HIS own life so that we could be set free. I'm glad that my husband sets an example for my son, but for other people's children as well. He is an example of integrity and uninhibited love for others. I'm so proud to be an army wife, even when it means being alone during the scariest parts of the night. it is such an honour to be a part of those who serve our country, and serve it well; in peace, in commitment, in love.

This year I was thankful for a few things, but I think, in light of the past year we've had; I am thankful most for JD. He has been the best father to his own son, and to the fatherless. He has shown an example of love, when other's have not. And he has been my best friend. I love you.

Summer Lovin'

It has been a busy summer and I haven't posted anything. Wow...I'm actually looking at getting a real website, and will be posting there more than likely. Until then, I will try to keep updating here. I have so many pictures to post, I doub't I'll get to them!

So, I have a few updates. Number one (1): I have a new name. After much thought, and my husband telling me we could never name our child this, I've decided to name my free lance business Everlaine Photography. I love it. I think it suits me?
And number two (2): I have a new niece. Her name is Jaiva Caroline (was supposed to be Aviyah Grace...which means now I can use my name again!). She is adorable, but as a photographer, I have only been able to enjoy her behind my lense.

Victoria's Family

I had a great family session with these guys on Monday. It took me a while to break in 4 year old Kiana, she would not smile, and ended up bawling her eyes out for most of the shoot. I decided to go outside with her and take pictures while she jumped on the trampoline, which proved to be a mini life saver!

Mother's Day

So Mother's Day was alright. I did Avery and Shawn's maternity session and it went well. The day was cold, so we got a few outside, but the girls were cold. So we did most of the shots inside.

Here's a few! Can't wait to meet Gavin :)

P.Diddy

We went with the family down to Port Dover for a stroll along the beach. It was nice to do as my husband's family is originally from this area, and they often complain about the amount of visitors this place has during the summer. We were pretty much the only people on the beach besides some crazed sunbathers. Jax is now an honourary member of the Martin clan! (she took picture number 2)

Trains

Yesterday we took a trip down to the train tracks where I overcame my fear of moving trains, and actually let my family play on the tracks. Dumb idea #1. You should probably never let your kid, who still topples over once in a while, play near really hard metal surfaces. He scraped the top of his head. Luckily the train schedule allowed us this fun photoshoot. My friend Jax, as always, is my perfect model. And this time, even though it was 15 degrees, I didn't make her wear a tiny little dress. We had a blast! Unfortunately Misha was not able to be with us. She was at her grandma's for the day.
